Systems Engineering and Development


WPL’s rich history demonstrates successful achievements in the development and sustainment of all MILSATCOM segments including spacecraft, terminals, planning tools, and Mission Control elements.

WPL’s support to protected SATCOM communications and cryptographic planning tools ranges from requirements generation to implementation and fielding. Current and past efforts include AEHF MPE testing and training, Milstar ACMS engineering and development, and MCPTi sustainment.

  • WPL engineers are integral to the AEHF MPE transition to operations, providing training to U.S. Tactical and Strategic operators as well as International Partners
  • Hands-on development of operational Global Planning Scenarios
  • AEHF MPE fielding and help desk support to the user community

Sustainment Efforts

Strategic and tactical communications expertise allows WPL to evaluate emerging technologies, ensuring compatibility with existing systems

  • Our engineers have provided critical support for legacy EHF terminal 6K testing for the Advanced EHF system
  • WPL engineers quickly identified potential interference issues related to EHF terminal logon protocols and adjacent frequencies and designed mitigation strategies
  • Our team identified and analyzed the effects of XDR logon beam protocols on legacy terminals such as the Minuteman MEECN Program (MMP), the Air Force Command Post (AFCP) and the SCAMP terminals
  • Developed MILSATCOM Concept of Operations
  • Enabled integration of Lincoln Laboratory AEHF simulator into the test environment
  • Managed installation and integration of MMP, SMART-T, and AFCP terminals into the CISF laboratory
  • Led the design of the interface and integration circuitry for the ITW/AA cryptographic solutions
